Lurker wrote: A wise man told me many years ago that if one can't find anything good to say about another; say nothing at all..............Of course that is not what Jesus did. "The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil." And John the Baptist didn't either "For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother’s wife. Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:....." And of course there are other examples in Scripture. Which say also "For God so loved THE WORLD that He gave His Only Begotten Son that WHOSOEVER believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16 A most precious and beautiful truth that some of the "religious experts" commenting here keep insisting doesn't really mean what it says. |

Secundus, Speaking of scholarship have you forgotten???"I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. I would not denigrate the simple theology of a "5th grader" quite so quickly if I would take seriously the very words of Christ. |

Augustine USA, I am better than half way through Pastor Gable's message.I don't agree with how he took John 8:31,32 in the context however that said, he is touching on a very important thing - a false profession of faith. Remember it was Jesus Himself who told us that not everyone who says to Him, 'Lord, Lord' would enter the kingdom of heaven and then goes on and contrasts the doers of His word with those who only heard. It might shock us to consider this is far to widespread in our churches today. A famous author, writer, mover and shaker in religious and now political circles from California comes to mind. |

Arthur, I'm a bit troubled at something you "experts" seem to over look.Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Correct? And do we not humanly speaking see among mankind things good and evil, beautiful and ugly? Even at the same time we know the men, women, girls and boys are not obedient to God? Apparently there exists the ability to choose in people who are fallen, who are lost, who cannot save themselves, cannot of all the good works they would ever do make themselves right with God. The reason I bring this up is that it is almost like some "experts" give the idea that lost people are wicked, vile, murderous, lying, and on and on and even though they have no goodness in the sense of what is truly good before God they can and often do good things. Cornelius would be an example or the Centurion at Capernaum. I particulary like the Centurion at Capernaum as for all the good things he had done he nevertheless was quite clear, "I am not worthy for You (Christ) to come under my roof." I guess I have a problem with the 5 Point "Experts" who know and can quote verses like those refering to this Centurion and then turn around and give the idea they want to "burn" the arminians (anyone who disagrees with them). |

Mike PA, "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:""How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" "Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus," "Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?" In all this talk of how you all 5 Point TULIP people claiming you are right!!! Somehow I failed to hear how much you thanked God that He had His Son Shed His Blood for you. Somehow I failed to hear how God had brought you to cry out to Him for his mercy. Kind of like if you all had written the parable of the Pharisee and the Publican it would have to be written... the Pharisee was condemned because he "predestined" to hell and the publican was justified because he was "elect". But I guess you all don't like the idea Jesus willingly shed His blood for sinners, for all sinners, so they could be forgiven. |
