Most of the last seven years of the life of Jonathan Edwards found him engaged in missionary work in Stockbridge and in continuing his writing career. Upon the death of his son-in-law, Aaron Burr, Sr., Edwards received a call from the trustees of the College of New Jersey, located at Princeton, to succeed his son-in-law as college president. Though not inclined to accept the invitation, Edwards ultimately agreed and took up his duties there late in January 1758. Less than two months later, he was dead at the age of 54. This final message in the Edwards Tricentennial Festival follows the man of God through the last years of his life and finds him coming to the end with that same calm reliance upon the Lord that marked his life.
