Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
The style of argument that Paul uses in this text of Scripture is one that he has already used before in this Epistle. Paul is arguing from the greater to the lesser.
If God has done the greater thing then we can implicitly trust Him to do the lesser. Charles Hodge said of this type of argument when applied to the things of God: If the greater benefit has been bestowed, the less will not be withheld.
If this great truth stands unchallenged and it does then Paul leads on to the things which will accompany and flow from this great truth.
If the greater benefit has been bestowed, the less will not be withheld. How shall he not with him also freely give us all things? It is the second part of this text that we want to dwell upon today. |
