Sermon:
A Tale of Two Sons: With A Never Heard...
Pastor John MacArthur

“ Amazing sermon! ”
I too have heard many sermons on this parable, but I’ve never heard half of what is in this sermon. To name just one, the explanation of the culture of shame and honor at that time was very enlightening. Dr. MacArthur’s ending for the incomplete story was absolutely shocking! But of course, it was and is the truth. We get comfortable with the gospel sometimes, and we forget how shocking it is.

“ Sobering Sermon ”
What a sobering, convicting sermon! As I move closer to old age, this really hits home. From looking around, it seems that it’s easy for people to fall into serious sin in their older years, when they are tired and let their guard down. I need to cling to God ever more closely, asking for help to overcome the sins of grumbling, self-pity, not trusting Him when He brings truly sad and grievous circumstances into my life, etc.

“ Good devotional! ”
Excellent teaching on a very frightening chapter. God takes grumbling and rebellion very seriously. May He have mercy on each one of us, and give us a heart of gratitude rather than grumbling.

“ Shocking testimony! ”
I cannot understand why there are no comments already. This is a stunning testimony by a man who had a very violent childhood but who saw his extended family come to Christ one by one through the clear preaching of a hillbilly preacher. He ended up dedicating his life to sharing the gospel. Be prepared to laugh and cry and be deeply moved. It is an amazing story of God transforming lives of the most unlikely people. There is also good advice for how to mobilize teens to share the gospel. I’m going to order this book right now, read it myself and then give it to my pastor. And another copy for a friend who is a single parent. Thank you so much, Adam, for this powerful interview.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Such an important sermon! Thank you. Yes, I definitely long for the marriage supper of the Lamb! So thankful that I will be there, only because my sins have been washed away by the blood of Christ.

“ Good teaching ”
Thank you for this good teaching on 11th hour conversions. The Lord regenerated my mother’s heart two days before she died. May He show similar grace to billions of people, until the wonderful day when Jesus Christ returns to bring us home to heaven.

“ Wonderful insights ”
Thank you for taking this chapter, which seems very mundane at first, and showing us the beautiful picture it presents of Christ paying the full price to bring us, His bride, into the promised land of heaven and the new earth. I also appreciated your teaching on burial versus cremation, that burial shows our faith in our future resurrection and it gives honor to the body God has given each of us. I agree.

“ Good way to start the day ”
Thank you for this series of devotionals. I’ve listened to the ones for the month of January so far. I’m physically disabled and I need to stay in God‘s word constantly or else I become depressed. I like to listen to one of these when I wake up in the morning and do some simple stretches in bed. So thank you for helping me start my day in God‘s word. I appreciate your love for Jesus and His word.

“ Good devotional ”
Interesting. I had only heard the interpretation that the three men were the Lord Jesus and two angels. But after hearing this, the idea that it is a representation of the Trinity seems more likely. Thank you for these good daily devotionals.

Wonderful! I’ve heard many series on Genesis, but this is the best one. He puts the emphasis where it belongs, on the glory of God and His goodness toward mankind.

“ Good devotional and music! ”
Thank you for this devotional. And the beautiful rendition of this hymn. Yes, God‘s people had been waiting for the Redeemer for a very long time, ever since the fall and the promise in Genesis 3:15. And in the fullness of time, He came to earth! Praise be to God!

“ Great Sermon! ”
Very encouraging. I really appreciated all the quotes from solid theologians of the past and present. This sermon really helped me to better understand these verses, which can be difficult to understand, probably because of the translation in English to “work out”.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Like Job, I am speechless. The book of Job makes God so much bigger in our minds and makes us so much smaller, which, of course, is the reality. As this pastor says. it’s not specific answers that we need, it’s the revelation of who God is.
