The sorest trial is the one that comes after hopes have been raised to the highest level. When Jesus agreed to go with Jairus, the ruler of the synagogue was sure that his dying daughter would be healed at the last possible moment. But the delay occasioned by the Lord's dealing with the woman who had an issue of blood meant that Jesus did not get to the home of Jairus before the daughter died. In the midst of deep distress and despondency, Jairus heard the clear exhortation of Christ to stop surrendering to fear. Faith is that which conquers fear, and the reward of confidence was that which Jairus could never have imagined.
