The atmosphere of Calvary, especially after the death of Jesus, appeared to be cloaked in defeat. But the reality was that the Lord Jesus Christ had won a complete victory over sin and over death. He had come into the world to take unto Himself a true human nature so that He could suffer the penalty of the broken law, the penalty that required the offering up of His body that He said would be broken for His people. That offering was on one occasion only, for that offering accomplished, the Savior had secured everything that pertained to salvation.
