This message follows Calvin through the period following his banishment from Geneva. He accompanied Farel to Bern and Zurich and on to Basel. Then, at the invitation of Martin Bucer, Calvin left Farel and took up residence in Strasbourg, at that time a German city. There Calvin continued and enlarged his ministry, and married a wife and had the joy of seeing his wife give birth to a son. Several have said that this period that began in such adversity proved to be the happiest time in Calvin's life.
