It is a word marked by mystery and about which we must exercise the greatest care to maintain a truly Biblical Christology. But it is a cry full of pathos that ought to melt the hardest heart. In that cry was the evidence of the high cost of redemption. In that cry was the evidence of the lengths to which the love of Jesus for His people took Him. That desolation became the cause of our pardon, the means of our conversion, and the way of our peace.
