The expression Paul employed in addressing the Ephesian elders, during his farewell to them at Miletus, has caused some to wonder about the correctness of it. But when Paul referred to the blood of God, it is obvious that he was referring to the blood of the God-Man, the Lord Jesus Christ. In the sense that He is the mediator between God and men, it can be said that God purchased the church with His own blood. Only the blood of the God-Man, blood that was perfect and incorruptible, could meet the price that was required for the redemption of sinners.
