SERMON INFO
How different the thoughts and ways of God are to those of mere men. Politically the then known world lay in the lap of a Caesar, Augustus was his name and he ruled the then known world. The religious world of the Jews belonged to the Chief Priests and Scribes, Pharisees and Sadducees.

The Lord however did not choose to tell any of these political or religious elites first about the coming of His Son into the world. It was not to the so called ‘great men of the world' that the Lord first conveyed the glorious tidings, rather He first told this wondrous news to a humble band of shepherds who were out on the hills and mountains surrounding Bethlehem, watching over their flocks at night. The Shepherds are hardly the first people that anyone would think to tell, they were probably among the last in most people's reckoning.

The telling of this good news to the shepherds was not without significance. It is the way of God among mankind to reveal spiritual things unto the meek and lowly and not unto the rich or famous or the titled or the holders of great offices. Luke 10:21 ... I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight. The Lord began as He meant to continue with the coming of His Son into the world.
