In this final message of the series, the focus is on the contrast that appeared after the Lord's body was removed from the cross. Though it is sometimes overlooked, the burial of Christ is as important an aspect of the Gospel message, as Paul defined it in I Corinthians 15, as is the resurrection. The burial of Christ left His followers in deep gloom. All their hopes, it seemed, had been dashed. But the burial of Christ's body signified as well the burial of all of His people's sins with Him. It also brought into play the Messianic prophecy in Psalm 16 that Paul expounded in Acts 13 that Christ's body would not see corruption in the grave and that He would rise from the dead in the power of an endless life. The gloom of the disciples yielded to the most amazing glory with the news that Jesus had indeed risen from the dead.
