When the prophet Jeremiah was still imprisoned and when it appeared that there was no hope of any improvement in his situation and when he was facing the most discouraging aspect, then the Lord came to him with a message of encouragement and hope. The Lord's word was that the promises that Jeremiah had received would be fulfilled, and that the day would come when Christ Himself would appear in the very Jerusalem that the Babylonians had left desolate. It is a message for the people of God that they should never let their view of their circumstances overwhelm the reality of God's promise.
