When John the Baptist refused to baptize Christ and asked why the Lord would want such a thing, Christ said, "Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness."
Christ's answer to John's question is full of instruction and comfort for the Lord's people.

Great Sermon! Now this is really heavy. This is the 2nd msg on this particular portion of Scripture I've listened to in the same amount of days. To any who have already grasped this, this will seem like a simple thing maybe, but this "to fulfill all righteousness" always puzzled me. Tho I confess I never attempted to study it out but just gleaned over it. Thus I truly welcome the additional clarity your msg brought to me. Me, who can never repent perfectly, even this the spotless, sinless Son of God did vicariously for me and credited it to my account. Heavy. And your application of Christ's love for God's perfect law and abhorrence of sin, superb. This will stay with me. Much to ponder and rejoice in. After all these years of walking with Him and learning of Him, I finally see this clearly. This thrills my soul. Thank you, brother.
