The Lord Jesus Christ taught His disciples that their association with Him would cause a sharp response from the world out of which He had called them. In the midst of His intercessory prayer for His people, the Lord noted that the very fact that He had delivered to them the word of the Father, the truth that is forever settled in Heaven, would make the disciples targets of the world's enmity. Because the word of Christ is infallible and because it proclaims the Gospel message that there is only one way of salvation, those who have received that word and who believe it and proclaim it will be attacked as being intolerant. Those who are separate from the world will receive the unmitigated rage of the world, but their comfort is that they are united with Christ and receive the same treatment that was accorded to Him.
