So that is the shield of faith and what it does. Now we want to go into action. We need to take this into battle in the Christian life. We are facing a terrible foe – the devil. He is hurling his fiery darts at us in the spiritual realm. He targets us and will throw all his fiery wicked devices to bring us down so that we are no longer in the battle for truth and righteousness.
This is a constant battle but not steady in force of attack. (As in Trench warfare) There may be a lull for a time in the Christian’s life. But then at times, Satan targets individual Christians, churches and even nations to destroy their witness. All hell lets loose these fiery darts. You will feel that you are in constant opposition one way or another.
Thus you need this shield of faith above all other means to deal with these attacks.
