The plaintive words of Christ that we hear Him utter as death approaches His body, when He uttered,
"I thirst", is a statement of truth, that His mouth, throat, and tongue were very parched, but also an indication of His weakened and suffering state, but again was also a request for drink, to wet His mouth: for Christ had something to say. What Christ was finally given was lukewarm vinegar on a sponge - for Him to suck on and drink, whereby His bitter sufferings were only added to by that bitter drink:
1) He Refused
2) He Revealed
3) He Received |
