There are powerful effects of the exposition of the doctrine of the resurrection. Paul described in this context the identification between believers and Christ, and the way in which believers are to think concerning their relationship with Christ. His point is plain. Those who are united to Christ through the baptism by the Holy Spirit are to think in a different way. They are to live in a new way, to "walk in newness of life."
