"Jesus loves me. This I know. For the Bible tells me so." These words have become cheap in this world because people do not know the weight of sin nor do they understand what love is. What does it truly mean that Jesus loves me? A picture of God's love can be seen in Hosea's love for Gomer. God told Hosea to go marry and love an adulteress, named Gomer, despite her sin. This would be a representation of God's love towards the children of Israel. The Israelites had committed adultery against God but God loved them despite this. This is true love.
1. The marriage Just as Hosea married and loved Gomer, God married and loves us.
2. The adultery Just like Gomer, we, being sinners, fall away from God and commit adultery to Him.
2. The reconciliation As Hosea went and found Gomer again, God out of his love goes again to His people and pulls them out of their sin. |
