Each family had to slay a perfect lamb and then to apply its blood to the door of the family's dwelling. There was an emphasis on the objective nature of saving faith. As long as the blood was on the door, however confident or fearful the people inside would be, the Lord would pass over that house. It was the blood that would save them.
