25th March 2007 marks the 200th anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery in Britain. It was on that date in 1807 that the Abolition of the slave trade Bill past in the House of Commons. Many of those who were in the vanguard of the abolition of this trade were in fact evangelical Christians. One of the best known is William Wilberforce. But what you should realize is that slavery has not been abolished. We have said that there was an Act of Parliament passed in 1807 that abolished the Slave Trade in the British Empire but there is still a terrible and an awful slavery that is absolutely rife in this world today What we are talking about is the slavery of sin.
