In the midst of the entry of the Lord Jesus Christ to Jerusalem, the shouts of the multitude could be heard echoing off the walls and buildings of the city, just to the north of the Temple area. The Pharisees were dismayed that such words of praise and adoration were being directed toward Jesus of Nazareth, and they insisted that He direct His followers to desist. His reply was that if they were to be silenced, the stones of the city would cry out immediately. The Lord Jesus Christ would not be without praise and adoration on this occasion. The tragedy would prove to be that there were people joining in the praise that day who would clamor for Christ's crucifixion later in the week. The message focuses on what the stones would have said if they had been required to cry out in praise to Christ.
