SERMON INFO
Naaman the captain of the Syrian host was a man with wealth, popularity and success. He had all that the world looks for except for one thing. He was a leper. He was dying. That spoiled everything else. What did it all mean? We wonder why these strange circumstances had come upon this man. There is only one real explanation to that and that is that it is for an example for us. In the book of Romans 15:17 we read of the Pharaoh of Egypt in the day of Moses and it says. Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up that I might shew my power in thee Pharaoh's life was raised up for the ultimate purpose that God's power might be seen. I believe that Naaman the Syrian was also raised up of God for a purpose. Not so that the power of God should be seen in judgment as with Pharaoh but that God's power should be seen in grace. Indeed the Lord Jesus Himself made reference to this story in Luke 4:27 and makes takes this man as an example of how God in grace and in His own Sovereign purpose could cleanse a soul. He said 'And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.'
The life of Naaman if a perfect illustration of the grace of God in the life of a sinner but what a story it is. I want you to see the wonderful thing that God did in the life of this man
