SERMON INFO
When Saul was anointed king over Israel, he was accompanied and assisted by “a band of men whose hearts God had touched.”

However, not everyone shared in the general gladness. 1 Samuel 10:27 records how the children of Belial “despised him, and brought him no presents.”

It is a similar situation with our Lord.

Shepherds and wise men may greet Him and present gifts to Him, but the children of Belial are still in the majority in this world.

For His people, the key question is summarised in the words of Frances Ridley Havergal:

Thy life was given for me!
Thy blood, O Lord, was shed
That I might ransomed be,
And quickened from the dead.
Thy life was given for me:
WHAT HAVE I GIVEN FOR THEE?

In this message, by contrasting 1 Samuel 10:27 with Romans 12:1, a call goes out for fresh consecration to our Lord.
