1. God has called us to live a life of holiness not debauchery
2. God has called us to live a life of wisdom not folly
3. God has called us to be controlled by the Holy Spirit not by drink
(a) drunkenness may bring a smile but the Holy Spirit brings true Joy
(b) drunkenness may be associated with singing but the Holy Spirit gives meaningful song
(c) drunkenness may ease pain but the Holy Spirit brings true Comfort
(d) drunkenness may stimulate but the Holy Spirit brings lasting invigoration
(e) drunkenness brings destruction and violence, the Holy Spirit leads the way of peace
(f) drunkenness may be associated with tears, but the Holy Spirit brings true brokenness
(g) drunkenness may be associated with companionship but the Holy Spirit is an abiding companion
(h) drunkenness is a waste of time, but the Holy Spirit causes us to Redeem the time
(i) drunkenness undermines the home, the Holy Spirit blesses the home
(j) drunkenness endangers life, but the Holy Spirit brings true protection |
