BLOG ON: SERMON The Vision Of A Glorious God
Londonderry Free Presbyterian Church
Rev Ian Brown
The Book of Ezekiel, being a book of revival, is certainly relevant to the times in which we live.

The Book commences with a tremendous vision of the God of power and glory ... then, due to the sin of the people, God was forced to remove His presence and power from among them - His glory was withdrawn from His temple and, for some time, was outside the city on the Mount of Olives, the place of weeping.

However, God did not - could not - abandon His church. He returned:

- with a gracious promise (Ezekiel 36:37): “... I will increase them with men like a flock”;

- swept through the Valley of Dry Bones with His Spirit (Ezekiel 37), breathing life into the souls of those people who had lost hope;

- flooded the place with His presence ... the river of His blessing began to flow from under the altar / the place of sacrifice / the cross, rising and expanding as it flowed until it became “waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over” (Ezekiel 47:5);

- the glory returned, and the place where this heavenly refreshing had visited was called, “Jehovah Shammah” - “the Lord is there” (Ezekiel 40-48).

It is our prayer that the Lord’s presence, power and glory would once again impact upon His church, sweeping us forward to a mighty revival.
