O How I Love Jesus
Malachi 3:16
WHITFIELD  |  Bible Passage
Author: Frederick Whitfield, 1829-1904
Musician: Traditional American Melody

There is a name I love to hear,
I love to sing its worth;
It sounds like music in mine ear,
The sweetest name on earth.

Refrain:
Oh, how I love Jesus, Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus, Because He first loved me!

It tells me of a Saviour's love,
Who died to set me free;
It tells me of His precious blood,
The sinner's perfect plea.

It bids my trembling soul rejoice,
And dries each rising tear;
It tells me in a still small voice
To trust and never fear.

Jesus, the name I love so well,
The name I love to hear;
No saint on earth its worth can tell,
No heart conceive how dear.

This name shall be a comfort still
Along life's thorny road,
Shall sweetly smooth the rugged hill
That leads me up to God.

And there, with all the bloodbought throng,
From sin and sorrow free,
I'll sing the new eternal song
Of Jesus' love to me.

BIBLE PASSAGE:

16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
