6,274 sermons from Dr Cairns uploaded to SermonAudio. What a legacy. His were some of the first sermons I listened to when I discovered this site some years ago now. He was a wonderful preacher and teacher even from such a distance. Now at home with the Lord. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

“ Thank you ”
Thank you for introducing me to Dr Peter Jones and his TruthXchange website. I had never heard of either before. I will read as much of his stuff as I can get my hands on as what you and he were talking about has happened in my own family and is certainly happening in my country. Post-secularism is definitely a thing...

Kanye would do better to sit and learn at the feet of godly men for a few years before going "out there". He is used to being the centre of attention as the recent film clip attests...

No mention of the elephant in the room i.e. parental divorce. It means that young people enter adult life less resilient and less confident, and with their emotional batteries only half-charged. This plays out over a lifetime. Most people don't want to hear this sombre truth but if you want your kids to do well make it your job to have a strong marriage, even when your kids are grown up. It gives them a strong base for life and means they can possibly present their own children with intact grandparents down the line. Not a bad outcome...

“ Great Sermon! ”
Thank you for bringing attention to Archbishop Glen Davies' witness. He is a believer first, and Anglican archbishop second.

When I read this last week I actually thought it was "fake news" because there was absolutely nothing at all about it anywhere at all over here. It was only when I tuned into The Briefing just then that I realised what had happened. I'm shocked that such a gag order could be a thing in my country.

Interesting comments! In the end this is all superficial. Let us not forget it is Jesus Christ and Him crucified (1 Cor 2:2) upon Whom we rely, and not our practices around this or any other Christian season. A blessed Christmas to you all.

The evergreen tree coming into the home at Christmas time started as a Germanic custom I believe. The idea was that it was a very unusual thing that made people stop, look and admire. Jesus' coming into the world was an arresting event, so the tree reminded people of that aspect of it, especially at a time when many couldn't read or write. This symbol was a powerful teaching tool especially for the young. The commercialisation came later and is (in my opinion) rightly rejected by believers. Biblical historians can accurately date the birth of Christ to being somewhere between December 25 and Jan 6 (our calendar), because the record of Zechariah's priestly duty dates still exists. I heard an SA sermon on this once.

As a young Christian in the 1970s, I was warned off yoga (which was rapidly gaining popularity at the time) by my minister. He was right and I remain forever grateful.

I'm not offended. I engage in ministering to RCs. They really have very little idea of true Christianity but will absolutely describe themselves as Christians. They don't realise how far away from the truth they are because they have been led astray from infancy. They don't feel they have the right to read the Bible for themselves. It's resl bondage. Partial knowledge is harder to minister to than no knowledge at all. I get them reading the Bible and then let the Spirit do His work.

Let us love our RC brethren into the faith. They suffer through lack of assurance (some will add, with good reason) and through being held in bondage to works. However, many that I know love Jesus the best way they know how. They need our prayers not our condemnation.
