Great Sermon! To be honest brother. You sound ignorant of the things you talk about. I support you work, but like my other “white” brothers in Christ is that you are blind to the sins of our nation. This “Farher of our fathers” romancing of American history is disheartening |

Interested, Thanks for the comment. I hope David Shakspeare will give comment to this also.As for me I do not believe in exclusive Psalmody as some call it. However I do believe in being discerning as to both the words and the music used. Am I perfect in this? No Way! But even as a God fearing preacher prayerfully studies the Word of God to rightly divide it and preach it in the power and leading of the Holy Spirit so likewise I believe those called or gifted by God in the area of music can likewise prayerfully study His Word and compose hymns with Scriptural content with appropriate instrumentation that honor God in an obedient expression of the faith He reveals in Scripture. If it is someone's conviction to not allow such expressions of faith and love for Christ in their congregations and do so out of their faith and love for Christ according to their conscience before HIm I will not argue with them. If however they do so to make themselves more holy than others I would respectfully not join with them as such human efforts to make ourselves holy detract greatly from the enormous chasm that God bridged for us in Christ through His precious shed blood. |

JD, I haven't read through all your posts and I don't know exactly how to word this but are you having difficulty with how utterly sinful people are and yes, we most certainly inherited it through Adam, anyway are you having difficulty admitting the sinful nature we inherited from Adam without being swept up into 5 Point Calvinism's belief sinners have no ability to respond to the conviction of the Holy Spirit and to the Word of God in repentance and faith?Don't let any dislike of Calvinism keep you from holding to what Scripture says openly and straight forward. Calvinists use many of the same words Scripture does for example election and predestination they just take them and use them in ways contrary to what the rest of Scripture says. To open a huge can of "worms" For example even though Eph 1 speaks clearly of being choosen in Him before the foundation of the world that in no way negates the reality God convicts sinners by the Holy Spirit and His Word and brings them to godly sorrow, repentance and faith and at the momment they trust Christ (receive Him) they are born again of the Holy Spirit (not before faith) and it certainly does not negate John 3:16 meaning the whole world either! Let the Lord teach you and lead you. |

Polly Filla, I will be away for most of the day but will look for your response, probably late this evening. What you have just posted (I will check it more closely later) seems to go very much against what the Apostle John wrote by the Holy Spirit. "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." not for ours (believers) only but also for the sins of the whole world. Just perhaps those you might call arminians aren't quite the heretics for believing this as some would make us out to be. |
