Dear Christopher, My understanding of the Christian life is it's all about having a comprehensive Biblical worldview and seeking to honor the Lord Jesus Christ in all we do. This means we might have to take a more narrow path than others and frankly, I've done this my entire Christian life. For some reason known only to the Lord, He placed me in the midst of a culture war and my only position has been to stand on the Word of God. If I don't have a Scripture or Biblical principle to stand on, I am likely to compromise, which can be good. However, God has given us Biblical instruction and principles on choosing leaders throughout Scripture. In Exodus we have the example of Moses taking advice from his father-in-law on what types of men to make judges for the Israelites, and then in the New Testament we have instruction on what types of men to choose as leaders in the Church. We can use the same criteria when choosing civil leaders because we are told in Romans 13 that God has instituted civil government. Traditional reformed thinking has been that while the Church and State are separate spheres, both are under King Jesus and should serve Him. This is where I stand and I'll not be moved. Amen. |

Dear Jess, Of course I forgive you... I understand your dismay at the re-election of Barack Obama and have in fact been trying to find a silver lining in this tragedy for America and was more or less preaching to myself. |

Well, Jess, I am the same in "real life" as I am on the internet. Anyway, the reformed world really is small, especially in the St. Louis area and perhaps we will make acquaintance in the future. If you are looking for a good reformed church, I recommend Gateway OPC in West County. May the good Lord bless you this Lord's Day. |

The way I see the election results is as an answer to prayer that we not have a Mormon in the White House to further confuse the citizens of America and add to our problem with pluralism. So, instead of wringing my hands over the results, I am giving thanks. Now I suggest all the complainers do as God tells us to do and begin earnestly praying for our leaders. |

I hope to address the main questions/points directed toward me. First of all, I am not saying being a Republican is a sin. What I meant by repentance was those who supported Mitt Romney, a moderate politician and Bishop in the LDS cult who continued to "evolve" (flip-flop) in this campaign up until the very end; a man who threw Presbyterian Elder Todd Akin under the bus for taking a Biblical view on prenatal child-killing of those conceived in rape. You can thank the Romney camp for Sen. Claire McCaskil's re-election. Now, as far as third parties goes, I don't have any unrealistic expectations for a Christian Party. I realize we live in an anti-Christ culture and Christians have become marginalized. But there is a need to build for the future and to take a moral, Christian stand now through Christian political efforts and parties. Regarding Lurker's article on Puritans and Pilgrims - I suppose I fall into the Puritan camp with a good measure of the Scottish Covenanters mixed in. |

Dear Jim, I firmly believe in the First Amendment and your right to free speech... I also remember how disappointed I was at GW Bush as president and promptly shook the dust off my feet to the Republican Party in 2001. But, you need to know that I also firmly agree with the Puritans who really founded America and I am 100% theonomist. May the good Lord bless you. |
