Great Sermon! This sermon addresses the question of whether a national covenant is still binding when one of the parties to it swore deceitfully. In light of the history of the Solemn League and Covenant, this is an important doubt to resolve in one's mind, making this a critically important sermon in this series.
Great Sermon! This sermon sets forth the biblical criteria for distinguishing between lawful and unlawful civil magistrates, and also shows that covenants made by unlawful magistrates are binding upon a nation.
Great Sermon! The sovereign and mighty God of the Bible is well worth our service. We should be ready to proclaim our faith in Him to the watching world, despite their hatred of Him, and be willing to suffer gladly any persecution that might arise!
Great Sermon! Pastor Silversides preaches an outstanding sermon on the life and principles of the Covenanter, Alexander Peden, in which Peden's true principles are exhibited. A true hero of the faith!
Great Sermon! With characteristic clarity and vigour, Pastor Silversides sets forth the cessationist position concerning the charismatic gifts of the Spirit! Excellent!
Excellent! After listening to this sermon I feel I have a better understanding of Peter, and I also learned some valuable spiritual lessons. Excellent!
Great Sermon! This sermon affirms the lawfulness of renewing a national covenant, even after the passing of many years, and also answers objections which may be raised to covenant renewal. Another helpful sermon in understanding this important subject!
Great Sermon! This sermon certainly separates fact from fiction! How much better it would be if we would all follow in Patrick's godly footsteps rather than use him as an excuse for engaging in carnal mirth....
Great Sermon! This sermon answers some questions about national covenanting, specifically whether covenants made between rulers and their people are are as binding as covenants between God and a nation, and also whether covenants which a nation initiates with God are as binding as covenants initiated by God with a nation. Instructive!
Great Sermon! This sermon shows that the words of a national covenant may be altered to reflect the changed circumstances of a covenanted people, so long as the moral substance of the covenant is not changed or diminished in any way. Very helpful!
Great Sermon! Thank you for this excellent sermon! It may be a point of interest that as a homeschool field trip, we once went with a Jewish acquaintance to a synagogue service, and they sang the psalms without musical instruments. It was a sad and very instructive experience because one could very much feel that their house was, in deed, left unto them desolate. We had no sense at all that the Spirit of God was among them; very different than in Christian assemblies, although some of them seemed fervent in their devotion. How we should pray for the in-gathering of the Jews!
Great Sermon! Belief in the sovereignty of God, the God who has even the sparrows under his watch and care, enables us to enjoy peace and comfort in this fallen and sinful world. Unbelievers live in secret despair without hope in the world, but believers have good reason to face all things in this life, and even death itself, with the assurance that their loving God is in control of all things and is working all things out for their good and for His glory.
Great Sermon! There is no better, kinder, or more loving Shepherd than Jesus Christ. He provides special care to those of His flock in their feeding, nurture, and protection. Are you one of the lambs of Christ's flock? Does Christ provide you with special protection, feed you with the choicest truths, and carry you over the rough ground? Come to Him in faith, and He will receive you and care for you as one of the precious lambs of His flock.
Great Sermon! The requirements of Christian forgiveness are not well understood, and, too often, not well followed, either. This sermon clears up common misconceptions about forgiveness, and shows the foundation upon which true Christian forgiveness is built.
Great Sermon! Very appreciative of this series on National Covenanting! In this day of such great judgments upon our covenanted lands, it's absolutely necessary that our Covenant obligations to King Jesus be made known far and wide, and that the call to repentance goes forth to all.
