Paul brings before the philosophers of Athens God's great call to repent. In this call there is :
I A Commandment 'God Commandeth' That Commandment is:- (a) Personal (b) Universal (c) Vital. It is to do with the eternity of your soul II A Judgement '...he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world' Why does God command to repent? Because there is a judgement day. III An Argument '...in that he hath raised him from the dead.' The philosphers never had heard this kind of thing before. So Paul gives them the reasons why the gospel is true. He has a faith founded on fact. Paul presented the evidence. It was the resurrection. If you want to know whether what we say is true then look at the record of the empty tomb and at the people who died to proclaim that truth of that resurrection.
