SERMON INFO
Three thousand men, 20% of the workforce of Harland & Wolff, had spent 3 years building the Titanic. Yet how quickly she met her end on that April night 1912.
Titanic was travelling at 22.5 knots when out of the darkness the iceberg appeared.

There was 30 seconds between the shout of warning and the collision. In that time they tied to steer around the iceberg. This is why five compartments were ripped open by the jagged edge of that inflexible iceberg.

The iceberg was reckoned to have been in the region of 150 feet high standing out of the water. Some of the survivors later testified at the inquiry that they saw an iceberg the next day when in the lifeboats with the evident signs of a collision upon it.

Having collided with the iceberg there was only 2 hours 20 minutes before the Titanic sunk to the bottom of the ocean. Descending at 10 mph it took her around 14 minutes to reach the ocean floor and such was the force of the impact that, when discovered 73 years later in 1985, it was reckoned that her bow had penetrated 18 metres into the seabed. She now lies 2.3 miles below the surface.

We want to continue considering some spiritual lessons from this tragedy.
