The text says there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. Why is heaven rejoicing? What is this joy all about? The verse is a wonderful comfort to those who work and labour to see souls saved. That work is oftentimes hard and difficult work and you do not get many thanks oftentimes from those you are trying to reach. But to realize that any result there may be from our labours will bring about joy in heaven is a tremendous encouragement. We realize that 'he that goeth forth and weepeth bearing precious seed shall doubtless come again with rejoicing bringing his sheaves with him. ' But the joy in heaven should also be an encouragement to the sinner because this joy that is spoken of as being in heaven is a joy that is over people just like yourself and there is the wonderful potential that there might be joy in the presence of the angels over you. Now this joy is first and foremost the joy of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. He rejoices when His redemptive work has been complete There is the joy of the Lord and the joy of the people of God in heaven over sinners who repent
