SERMON INFO
Praise is evidently an important and essential part of worship. Psalm 50:23 states: Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me…. Worship involves the glorifying of our God and therefore praise must be part of that worship.

There are some other obvious Scripture references which bear the same testimony: Ps 22:23 Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; Ps 86:12 I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.

Our praise can be spoken or sung. We can praise the Lord in our praying as we have noticed. Thanksgiving is one of those essential elements of prayer. However, in the main praise is to be sung.

The earliest record we have of praise being sung is that of the angels during the creation week, Job 38:7 …or who laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

We read of praise being sung in heaven for all eternity, Rev 15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Whether we look backwards to the beginning of time, or forwards out into the eons of eternity to come, we find God being praised and that by sung praise.

We want today to begin to explore this subject of praise as part of worship and search out what the Scriptures have to say about the praising of the Lord's name. Consider:

I. We can only truly Praise God when we have the 'new song'
