We have the example of Paul praying for the Church in Colossians ch 1. He is writing to the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse. He informs them that he is praying always for them, v3. Furthermore he states that he does not cease to pray for them, v9. It was not an one off but continual.
