C. H. Spurgeon, speaking to his congregation at the Metropolitan Tabernacle, London, on 6 October 1861 from Genesis 3:9, pointed out that this text represents “God's first words to the first sinner.”
Rev. W. Hay Aitken, preaching at ‘The Brighton Mission' in January 1876, said of this same Scripture verse, “These words, my brethren, are connected with the first judgment-day that ever occurred in the course of human history.”
“And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, ‘Where art thou?'”
