In recent days, our nation has faced stunning developments. Great calamity has befallen us as five justices on the Supreme Court have overturned the definition of marriage that has stood for centuries. In light of such developments, we want to look at how the Beatitudes apply to our current calamity.
1. What we need (5:3): recognize we are dependent upon God
2. What we must do (5:4-9): mourn (5:4) submit to God (5:5) never to stop striving for righteousness (5:6) see the bigger picture and pity those that sanction sin (5:7) maintain purity (5:8) endeavor to communicate the gospel of peace (5:9)
3. Things we can expect and prepare for (5:10-12) we can expect to be blessed we can expect to be triumphant
