Paul's visit to the city of Antioch in Pisidia was a moment of decision and direction. He had a continual burden for his fellow countrymen and followed the custom of preaching the gospel to them first. However, on this occasion during his first missionary journey it was made clear to him that his calling and life work would lie among the Gentiles. He declared to his Jewish hearers, "It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles." What was a moment of decision and destiny for Paul, was more so for his Jewish listeners. This message looks at the solemn responsibility that rests upon the heart of every person, Jew or Gentile, who is presented with the gospel of Jesus Christ. |
