BLOG ON: SERMON Joel Osteen: PG Coverboy!
Londonderry Free Presbyterian Church
Rev Ian Brown
My own view of Joel Osteen's theology will be obvious from the content of the message linked to this Blog Entry.

However, it is interesting to note the views of some others who have (like me) heard him on Sky TV, or even attended his meetings in person.

Here's a sample:

•"I enjoy listening to Joel's messages. I've attended some of his services in person. However, one concern I have is that maybe he is becoming bigger than his church. Does anyone else see this...? I don't know, but I feel that the messenger is being promoted more than the message. I realize that it's just 'marketing', and he is reaching many people, but I do wish he would preach salvation a little more occasionally."

•"Inspirational he is, but his sermons do not address the real issues of salvation and the gospel. That is the most important issue to hear about. We are sinners, we are NOT worthy in any way, shape or form, without Christ and seeking forgiveness from HIM."

•"I have seen his program a few times and he seems to be a great motivational speaker. Unfortunately, that's what most Americans want now. We are such a selfish nation that we want whatever we want when we want it and how we want it. We want someone to tell us that we're okay. People don't want to hear hard biblical teaching, they want watered down Christianity.
If I want a pep talk I'll listen to him. If I want real scriptural teaching (meat if you will) I'll go to my church."
