Dear Christopher,
My understanding of the Christian life is it's all about having a comprehensive Biblical worldview and seeking to honor the Lord Jesus Christ in all we do. This means we might have to take a more narrow path than others and frankly, I've done this my entire Christian life. For some reason known only to the Lord, He placed me in the midst of a culture war and my only position has been to stand on the Word of God. If I don't have a Scripture or Biblical principle to stand on, I am likely to compromise, which can be good. However, God has given us Biblical instruction and principles on choosing leaders throughout Scripture. In Exodus we have the example of Moses taking advice from his father-in-law on what types of men to make judges for the Israelites, and then in the New Testament we have instruction on what types of men to choose as leaders in the Church. We can use the same criteria when choosing civil leaders because we are told in Romans 13 that God has instituted civil government. Traditional reformed thinking has been that while the Church and State are separate spheres, both are under King Jesus and should serve Him. This is where I stand and I'll not be moved. Amen.

Dear Jess, Of course I forgive you... I understand your dismay at the re-election of Barack Obama and have in fact been trying to find a silver lining in this tragedy for America and was more or less preaching to myself.

Well, Jess, I am the same in "real life" as I am on the internet. Anyway, the reformed world really is small, especially in the St. Louis area and perhaps we will make acquaintance in the future. If you are looking for a good reformed church, I recommend Gateway OPC in West County. May the good Lord bless you this Lord's Day.

Hi Jess, Have we met? I live about 30 miles east of St. Louis and was a regular witness at planned barrenhood for many years. I hope you don't mind that I clicked on the icon next to your name and saw your previous comments, including the one you left on Pastor Swanson's Generations Radio broadcast the day after the elections. I didn't see you chastising Pastor Swanson for his demeanor or stand which I agree with... I hope you aren't offended at me because I am a woman who speaks out on these issues. I've had more stones cast my way than I dare remember due to taking a stand for Christ and some have been from Church going men, as well as liberals. I am not going to apologize for anything I've said because it lines up with Scripture. My advice is for you to examine your heart and see if your harsh attitude toward me is because I am a woman.

The way I see the election results is as an answer to prayer that we not have a Mormon in the White House to further confuse the citizens of America and add to our problem with pluralism. So, instead of wringing my hands over the results, I am giving thanks. Now I suggest all the complainers do as God tells us to do and begin earnestly praying for our leaders.

In response to John Y.: The candidates and people who make up the Republican Party are a factor in what it is, don't you think? One can have all kinds of good things written on paper, but it is the people that make up the organization. Not all Republicans are pro-God, pro-life, pro-liberty, etc. Not all candidates adhere to the Republican Party platform - Mitt Romney certainly didn't... In fact, has there been a Republican presidential candidate who did adhere in recent years? Please don't waste your time trying to convince me what a wonderful party it is; I left it in 2001 to join the Constitution Party and have not looked back with longing to return, but only as incentive to continue moving forward.

I appreciate Pat Boone's seeking to look at the 2012 elections through a Biblical lens, but those who abstained from voting (like me)just plain didn't have anyone on the ballot worth casting a vote for. My question to Pat Boone and others who agree with him is why would you support a candidate that is a Bishop in a cult for President of the united States? I think those who supported Romney need to seek the Lord's forgiveness and perhaps He will give us more godly candidates to support and vote for.

I am always wary of those who try to keep their faith quiet. Sorry, but I think the best approach is to be upfront about what you believe and leave the results in God's Hands. I read the Merkel article and frankly, I still don't know what she believes. Is she a member of a church? Which one and what does it teach?

I hope to address the main questions/points directed toward me. First of all, I am not saying being a Republican is a sin. What I meant by repentance was those who supported Mitt Romney, a moderate politician and Bishop in the LDS cult who continued to "evolve" (flip-flop) in this campaign up until the very end; a man who threw Presbyterian Elder Todd Akin under the bus for taking a Biblical view on prenatal child-killing of those conceived in rape. You can thank the Romney camp for Sen. Claire McCaskil's re-election.
Now, as far as third parties goes, I don't have any unrealistic expectations for a Christian Party. I realize we live in an anti-Christ culture and Christians have become marginalized. But there is a need to build for the future and to take a moral, Christian stand now through Christian political efforts and parties.
Regarding Lurker's article on Puritans and Pilgrims - I suppose I fall into the Puritan camp with a good measure of the Scottish Covenanters mixed in.

In answer to Mike: Believe it or not, some Christians do support gov't involvement in Healthcare (not me), but this doesn't mean they are for state sponsored abortions of euthanasia. Do you realize that your tax dollars have been paying for abortions through Title X funding for years? I sincerely doubt if Jim L. is in favor of any kind of prenatal child-killing or funding it from what I've read here at SA. And I do think Jim L. is bullied on this forum because he dares to disagree with the prevailing majority. At the very least, y'all could practice some Christian charity with those who disagree with you. Who knows but your patience and kindness might be a witness to the unsaved that Christians really do care for each other instead of squabbling like spoiled children.

Magnavox is right! From what I've read of Jim's comments he supports independent candidates. Some folks think that if one doesn't follow and vote for the Republican candidates, they support the Democrats. This is nonsense! There really are better alternatives than what the current two (really one) party system has to offer.

Dear Jim, I firmly believe in the First Amendment and your right to free speech... I also remember how disappointed I was at GW Bush as president and promptly shook the dust off my feet to the Republican Party in 2001. But, you need to know that I also firmly agree with the Puritans who really founded America and I am 100% theonomist. May the good Lord bless you.

I was hoping to read these comments and find some repentance among the Romney/Republican supporters, but instead I read the same old argument that Jim Lincoln is a bitter liberal because he doesn't support the Republicans... Excuse me, but if you continue to put your faith and hope in the Republican Party, we'll continue to live in tyranny... Why not repent and work to build a truly Christian political party? Frankly, I am tired of wandering in the wilderness because evangelical Christians have put their faith in the likes of Karl Rove and those of his ilk.

Flip-flopping politically is a habit of Mitt Romney... And I don't believe he is flopping in the right way regarding the truth of Scripture.

Frankly, I really don't care how others vote... But as a Christian, I have a duty to warn others when they are about to take a wrong course. As far as others imposing their will upon me - it seems the Roman Catholic Brigade is semi-full force or perhaps John Y. has many alias' to make his position appear more popular?

I read the article about Stephen Prothero at CNN yesterday and am dismayed at the Faux News spin and focus on it. I agreed with much of what Mr. Prothero said. I recommend you read it at CNN without the Faux News influence.
PS
"Way of Death" sounds rather creepy... Why not focus on Jesus Christ, the Only Way to the Father?

What gives my critics the right to try and impose their will upon me? It is not right for Romney supporters to argue for me to violate my conscience. I take voting very seriously, and while I am not waiting for a perfect candidate, I am waiting for one who understands how to govern according to God's Word and who won't flip-flop on vital issues such as prenatal child murder. Shame on those who have settled for voting for evil - regardless if it be lesser or greater.

I have decided to dissent this election because I don't want to be partly responsible for putting a flip-flopping, nominally pro-life, milk toast, moderate like Mitt Romney in the White House; plus, I think this election is a sham and I'll have no part in it.
